__Math__- Understand Fractions

*Why We Teach This - A fraction is a number that names part of a whole or part of a group. Although the term fraction is not taught until a later lesson, the concept of parts of a whole is explored in this lesson. Students need to understand the difference between equal and unequal parts before they can identify and name fractional parts. As students learn words to describe equal parts of a whole, they need to recognize when parts of a whole are not equal.
